I, Lilli Joon (Lillian Molayem), am a first-generation Persian-American human, from Los Angeles, California. In Farsi, ‘Joon’ is a term of endearment tacked onto first names, meaning something loosely-translatable to, ‘vital, sweet, life force’. Lilli Joon is the name given to me by my nearest and dearest.

‘Dwelling’ is my first-ever released collection of music and is a totem of significant growth in my willingness to take up space and be brave enough to dream. The songs were written and recorded during an extremely transformative time of life- the year my dad died from cancer. His death brought with it a profound state of suspension, hovering somewhere between falling and flying.

‘Dwelling’ reflects my attempts to understand, accept, and alchemize. It is a direct and confessional collection of music, which takes listeners into the chaos of my dad’s funeral, my chronically ill mother’s doorway, the immense culturally-informed responsibility to honor my parents above all else, all the way back around to quiet, solitary moments of deep surrender.

I feel so grateful to have gotten the opportunity to make these songs “real”. Thank you thank you thank you to all the wonderful and talented humans who helped make it possible- Raymond Joseph, Corey Leiter, Sam Plecker, Wryn, Doron Zounes, and of course, my family. I love you all.
